Vendor accountability

Vendor Accountability for Employer Health Plans

How plan sponsors can connect vendor promises, reporting and follow-through to an accountable governance process.

By Corry Hull, REBC®, CSFS® — Vice President of Employee Benefits at BHC Insurance

Vendor accountability begins before implementation. For every material partner, document the service purpose, performance standard, data source, reporting cadence and escalation path.

Separate a relationship update from a performance review. Ask what the partner committed to deliver, what the evidence shows, where exceptions remain and what decision or corrective action is required.

Keep one owner for each unresolved item and revisit it at the next governance meeting. Consistent follow-through turns contract language into an operating standard.
