Turn plan transparency into a 90-day leadership decision

A shareable guide for employers whose Health Plan Score identifies transparency as a priority—and the first Roadmap action that puts better evidence in front of leadership.

When data, analytics and transparency score low, the immediate opportunity is not to create more reports. It is to establish a dependable decision view: the few measures leaders need to understand plan performance, ask better questions and act before the renewal becomes the only moment of accountability.

Use the first 90 days of the Roadmap to agree on the evidence that belongs in that view. Include medical and pharmacy spend, utilization, the drivers behind material changes, provider-price variation, contract commitments and the performance measures each vendor is responsible for improving. Make every measure answer a practical leadership question.

Next, assign ownership. Decide who receives the information, who prepares it, when the group meets and which decisions the review is meant to support. A report that is not connected to a decision can create activity without creating management.

This Diagnose-phase discipline gives the rest of the Roadmap a stronger starting point. With a shared view of plan economics and performance, employers are better positioned to evaluate network, pharmacy, clinical and governance choices on evidence rather than assumptions.
